A Day in the Life of a Senior Systems Administrator:

  • Manage emails, review alerts, and prioritize tasks.
  • System Health Checks: Perform checks on systems and servers using Syslog and Splunk.
  • Patch Management: Apply security patches and updates via WSUS.
  • Project Work: Deploy and upgrade servers using Hyper-V and ESXi.
  • Security Monitoring: Monitor for threats and unauthorized access using Splunk.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Ensure data backups are up-to-date.
  • Documentation: Maintain system documentation and reports.
  • Training and Collaboration: Dedicate time to self-study, collaborate with team members, and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • On-call Support and Maintenance: Provide after-hours emergency support and perform scheduled maintenance tasks.

This job is for you if you:

  • Have experience with client or server installations and configurations, both physical and virtual.
  • Are skilled in transitioning on-premise applications to government hybrid-cloud solutions.
  • Possess familiarity with version control systems like Git and Azure DevOps.
  • Can thrive in a Scrum operations-based environment.

What we are expecting from you (i.e., the qualifications you must have):

  • Bachelor's degree with eight or more years of applicable experience or equivalent applicable experience.
  • Current Security+ CE certification (preferred) or must be obtained within six months of the hire date.
  • Experience working as a system administrator in a Microsoft Windows-based DoD enterprise environment.
  • Experienced with common administration tools such as WSUS, Syslog-NG, and SIEM’s.
  • Familiarity with RMF tools such as DoD STIG’s, SCAP, Evaluate-STIG, and ACAS.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
  • Proficient in configuring servers and clients with out-of-the-box solutions.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Working knowledge of relational database applications, specifically Microsoft SQL.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively with little supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting hardware/software problems at the component level.
  • Stay informed about our proprietary and changing software technology.
  • RHEL kernel-based Linux experience is a plus
  • DoD Directive 8570 certifications are a plus.
