Dr. Jan Bellgardt

Dr. Jan Bellgardt has an extensive and diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Dr. Jan began their career in 2005 serving in the German Navy as an Officer, where they held leadership positions and gained valuable experience in teamwork, discipline, and logistics. During this time, they served as an executive officer and deputy company commander in a transportation battalion.

In 2012, Dr. Bellgardt transitioned to the academic field and worked as a Research Fellow at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management. There, they focused on teaching microeconomics and mechanisms design, as well as acquiring skills in research project management.

Dr. Jan then moved on to work as an Intern at the Deutscher Bundestag, where they supported the office of Daniela Kolbe, a member of parliament. Dr. Jan assisted with public relations, background research, and had the opportunity to participate in policy panels, committee sessions, and parliamentary party meetings.

In 2014, Dr. Bellgardt joined Fraunhofer IMW, Europe's largest society for applied research. As a Project Manager, they worked on transnational projects related to knowledge transfer, economic development, and policy design in Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

In 2018, they joined KPMG Deutschland as an Assistant Manager, where they gained experience in business consulting and management.

From 2020 to 2023, Dr. Bellgardt served as the Referatsleiter Ressortkoordinierung und -planung WM / LM at Land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In this role, they acted as Head of Unit for Policy Field Coordination and Planning, focusing on topics such as economic policy, energy, public infrastructure, environment, and climate action.

Currently, Dr. Bellgardt holds the position of Manager Business Development at HH2E since 2023.

Dr. Jan Bellgardt obtained their Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Hamburg in 2020. Dr. Jan also pursued their doctoral research at various institutions including the University of Oxford, the University of California, Berkeley, and the Université Paris-Sorbonne. In terms of their earlier education, they completed their Master's degree in Economics and Business Administration at Helmut-Schmidt-Universität/Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg from 2006 to 2010. Dr. Jan also engaged in undergraduate studies in Law at the University of Hamburg from 2007 to 2009. Additionally, they attended Harvard University for a full-time summer course on Strategic Management in 2008.
