Gideon Mwawasi has a diverse range of work experience in various organizations. Gideon began their career as a Student Intern at Mombasa Law Courts, where they gained experience in legal research and writing. Gideon then worked as a Legal Intern at A.M. Omwancha & Co. Advocates.

In 2018, Gideon served as an Administrative Intern at the Alliance High School Old Boys Club Secretariat, where they facilitated alumni activities and correspondence. Gideon also worked as an Undergraduate Volunteer at the British Institute in Eastern Africa, conducting research, fieldwork activities, and organizing public forums on emergent issues in the East African region.

In 2019, Gideon interned at KPMG East Africa, first as an International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) Intern, where they supported the business unit through contract review, legal research, and risk advice. Gideon then interned in the Quality and Risk Management service unit, where they developed standard contracting templates and responded to legal, contractual, and policy queries.

In 2020, Gideon participated in the Ship for World Youth Program as a Delegate for Kenya, representing their country alongside participants from other countries. Gideon also worked as a Protection Intern at HIAS and as an Analyst at The Amahoro Coalition.

In 2021, Gideon returned to HIAS as a Protection Caseworker, responsible for providing protection services to vulnerable populations. Gideon currently holds the role of Localisation and Partnership Specialist at HIAS, where they focus on localizing initiatives and building partnerships.

In 2023, Gideon's role as a Localisation and Partnership Specialist at HIAS is ongoing.

Gideon Mwawasi obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from the University of Nairobi, specializing in International Law and Legal Studies, as well as Law and Development. Gideon completed this degree between the years 2015 and 2019.

In 2020, Gideon enrolled in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and pursued a Micromasters Program in Data, Economics and Development Policy. This program focused on Development Economics and International Development. Gideon successfully completed this program in 2022.

In addition to their formal education, Gideon Mwawasi has also obtained several certifications. Gideon received a Data, Economics, and Development Policy certification in January 2022 from MIT. Prior to that, in May 2021, they obtained an edX Verified Certificate for Challenges of Global Poverty, which was a proctored exam.

Furthermore, Gideon has acquired certifications in Data Analysis for Social Scientists and Microeconomics from MITx on edX in January 2021. Gideon also obtained a certification titled "WDR2001x: Trading for Development in the Age of Global Value Chains" from the World Bank Group in September 2020.

Other certifications include "Social Protection: A Primer" from the Institute of Development Studies in July 2020, "DAT2001x: e-Learning on Digital Agriculture" from The World Bank in May 2020, and "Designing a Multidimensional Poverty In" from Oxford Poverty & Human Development Initiative (OPHI), University of Oxford in April 2020.
