Karen D.

Karen D. has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Their most recent position was as a Food Scientist at Uncommon, starting in February 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Mondelēz International from 2018 to 2022, first as a Scientist II in the Microscopy department of RSSL, where they worked on projects for pharmaceutical, healthcare, and food industry clients, as well as research-based projects for Mondelez International. Karen then transitioned to the role of Scientist I.

Before joining Mondelēz International, Karen worked as a Student Volunteer at the University of Southampton from 2015 to 2017. In this role, they helped organize the "Meet the Chemists" area at University Open Days, giving tours, answering questions, and showcasing their enthusiasm for the course to prospective applicants and their parents.

Karen also gained valuable experience as a Placement Student at Johnson Matthey from 2016 to 2017. Here, they managed two main projects, improving their communication skills through presentations and report writing.

Additionally, Karen worked as a Part-time Coffee Shop Assistant at Coffee Corner Restaurant from 2013 to 2015. In this role, they excelled at making drinks, taking food orders, and providing customer service. Karen also took on leadership responsibilities by training new employees.

Karen D. completed their high school education at St Simon Stock School from 2007 to 2014. During this time, they achieved outstanding results in their A Levels, securing A* grades in Chemistry, Maths, and Biology. Karen also excelled in their AS Level Physics, earning an A grade. Additionally, Karen obtained 11 A* grades in their GCSEs.

After completing their high school education, Karen went on to pursue a Master's degree in Chemistry at the University of Southampton. Karen attended the university from 2014 to 2018, studying in-depth about chemistry and its related subjects at an advanced level.
