Latif Amars has held a variety of positions in the past decade. In 2007, they were the Vice President of Information Management for AIESEC in Tanzania and supervised an AIDS awareness project with international interns. In 2009, they were the Economic Justice Campaign Coordinator (Horn East & Central Africa) Assistant, Intern for Oxfam. In 2010, they were the Project Manager for ForumCC Tanzania, where they managed and pioneered operationalization of the organization with funding from DFID (218,000 GBP) and lobbied and actively engaged in international negotiations on climate change. In 2014, they were a Research Associate at Linköping University, where they transformed their Master's thesis into a journal article, reviewed relevant literature for the research, wrote the first draft of the journal article on Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) potential to support low carbon energy transition in Tanzania, and collaborated with other co-authors to finalize the paper. Latif was also a Guest Researcher at UNEP DTU Partnership in the same year. In 2015, they were the Energy Change Lab Coordinator for Hivos. In 2017, they were a Consultant: Environment and Natural Resources for The World Bank. Currently, they are a Product Manager for hiveonline ApS.

Latif Amars completed a Master of Science (MSc) in Sustainable Development from Linköping University between 2012 and 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) between 2006 and 2009.
