Andrew Selim GAICD has extensive experience in the legal and corporate sector. Andrew currently serves as the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary at HMC Capital, an ASX-listed fund manager with a focus on real asset strategies. In this role, they are responsible for managing legal matters and company secretarial duties. HMC Capital is well-positioned to grow its assets under management to over $10 billion by 2024.
Prior to joining HMC Capital, Andrew worked at The GPT Group as a Senior Legal Counsel and Company Secretary. The GPT Group is one of Australia's largest diversified property groups, with a $20 billion portfolio of properties across Australia. During their tenure, Andrew provided legal counsel and oversaw company secretarial functions.
Before that, Andrew gained valuable experience at Allens, a top-tier international law firm, where they served as a Senior Associate. Allens works with many prominent organizations globally and in Australia. Prior to Allens, Andrew worked as a Solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills and Clayton Utz, two well-established law firms in Australia.
Through their various roles, Andrew has developed a strong background in corporate governance, legal advisory, and strategic decision-making. Andrew holds the designation of GAICD, highlighting their expertise in corporate governance.
Andrew Selim GAICD has a diverse education history. In 1992, they completed their New South Wales Higher School Certificate at Trinity Grammar School. Andrew then went on to attend the University of Sydney, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) degree from 1998 to 2000. In addition, Andrew completed a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree at the University of Sydney from 1998 to 2002.
Andrew furthered their legal education by earning a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from The College of Law Australia in 2003. Andrew also pursued a Master of Laws degree from the University of Sydney, which they completed between 2007 and 2008.
To enhance their professional qualifications, Andrew earned several additional certifications. Andrew became a Member of the Governance Institute of Australia in 2019 and a Member of the Association of Corporate Counsel in 2020. In 2023, they obtained the Graduate Member designation from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Alongside these certifications, they received the R146 Responsible Manager certification from Financial Education Professionals in 2022 and the Modern Governance 100 certification from Diligent in 2021.
Furthermore, Andrew has held membership positions in various organizations. Andrew was a Member of The Law Society of NSW in 2003 and served on the NSW Future Directions Committee for the Property Council of Australia.
