Position Title: Director of Philanthropy- Southeast US

Location: Naples, Fl 

Position Description: Hope for Haiti is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our Development Team as the Director of Philanthropy for the Southeast US. The successful candidate will serve as an ambassador for our mission, engaging with new and existing donors, as well as strategically aligned foundations, organizations, corporate partners, and individuals. This role involves identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, conducting donor research, managing donor data, organizing both small and large in-person events, and overseeing timelines and reports for our funders and partners. Additionally, the Director of Philanthropy will develop and lead innovative friend-raising and fundraising events designed to increase awareness and generate revenue for Hope for Haiti.

Position Duties and Responsibilities: 

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer,  the Director of Philanthropy- Southeast US will have the following primary job responsibilities (and other duties as necessary): 

  1. Donor Base Stewardship & Expansion (60%)
  • Research and Qualify Prospective Donors: Support the team in identifying and evaluating potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors to advocate for and support Hope for Haiti’s mission.

  • Develop and Foster Relationships: Cultivate relationships with Southeast-based companies, promoting a culture of employee giving and volunteerism, particularly within the Haitian diaspora.

  • Serve as Point of Contact: Act as the primary point of contact for all donor inquiries in the Southeastern U.S.

  • Expand and Enrich Donor Relationships: Enhance and grow existing donor relationships, including Gift-in-Kind donors and partners, through direct communication and personal meetings.

  • Achieve Fundraising Goals: Work towards securing $500,000 in incremental revenue through major donor cultivation, special event revenue, and new partnerships with family foundations in Florida and throughout the Southeastern U.S.

  1. Special Event Support (20%)
  • Plan and Execute Events: Assist in planning and executing special events, ensuring they align with Hope for Haiti’s mission and fundraising goals.

  • Coordinate Logistics: Oversee event logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, and on-site setup and breakdown.

  • Engage Attendees: Facilitate engagement with event attendees, including donors, partners, and volunteers, to foster lasting relationships and support.

  • Monitor and Report Outcomes: Track event performance metrics, gather feedback, and prepare post-event reports to evaluate success and identify areas for improvement.

  1. Administrative and Collaboration (20%)
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, contributions, and event details in the organization's database.

  • Report Preparation: Assist in the preparation of regular reports on fundraising progress, donor engagement activities, and event outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Team Coordination: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the development team, ensuring alignment of efforts and sharing of best practices.

  • Meeting Support: Organize and coordinate donor meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and note-taking.

  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Programs, Communications, and Finance, to ensure cohesive strategies and effective implementation of initiatives.

Education, Skills & Experience:

As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values of Hope for Haiti and be driven by the mission and vision. 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in Communications, International Development, Public Policy, Sociology, Business, English or a related discipline or a combination of relevant work experience
  • 4 – 7 Years’ experience in a Non-Profit Development/Donor Experience role in the
  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships with corporations, foundations, individuals, and vendors.
  • Experience organizing events and managing volunteers or teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and growing environment
  • Exceptionally well-organized and has a strong ability to prioritize
  • Extremely computer/technology literate (PC & MAC Products)
  • Social Media experience (Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc…)
  • Professional in appearance, demeanor, and leadership
  • High level of donor service
  • Ability to adapt to and make level-headed decisions in stressful situations
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A self-starter and action-oriented
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Willing to travel Internationally with the proper documentation and authorization to travel freely between the United States and Haiti
  • Excels at working independently, exercising good judgment and taking initiative
  • Kindness, and a sense of humor

Compensation:
