Devaughn Douglas

DeVaughn Douglas is an experienced freelance writer currently contributing to Houstonia Magazine and Houston Press since December 2021 and March 2019, respectively. An educator at Alief ISD since January 2014, Douglas has a background in developing curriculum and improving student outcomes. Prior roles include serving as a research assistant at the Earl Carl Institute, where Douglas prepared research manuscripts and conducted interviews for historical and legislative projects, and as a web course specialist at Lexis Nexis, focusing on legal education. Douglas also has experience in middle school science education, significantly enhancing student test scores, and has worked in legal settings, providing client education on copyright law. Academically, Douglas holds a Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University and a Principal Certificate in Educational Leadership from Lamar University, along with a Bachelor’s degree from Xavier University of Louisiana.
