Sarah Saunders has work experience in various fields including engineering, research, teaching, and hospitality. Sarah worked as a Process Development Engineer II at Humacyte in 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Doctoral Researcher at Virginia Commonwealth University - College of Engineering from 2017 to 2022, where they led research teams and worked on developing a perfusion seed-and-culture bioreactor and electrospun PCL scaffolds for tissue engineering. Sarah also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and mentored students in using MatLab and SolidWorks for modeling and data representation. Additionally, they held leadership roles in various student associations, serving as a Student Activities/Community Engagement Chair of the Graduate and Professional Student Senate, President and Events Chair of the Graduate Student Association at VCU. Sarah Saunders obtained their Bachelor's degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University in the years 2013-2017.
