Krissy Mahan

Strain Engineering Scientist at Huue

Krissy Mahan has a long and varied work experience. Krissy began their career in 2004 as a Research Assistant/Lab Technician at The University of Texas at Austin. In 2006, they became a Graduate Student at UC Davis. In 2010, they took on an Intern role at Novozymes. From 2013-2017, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where they developed mass spectrometry assays for the detection of nitro compounds, optimized conditions for growth and secondary metabolite production in various Streptomyces strains, used labelled feeding experiments to identify substrates for nitro compounds produced by S. noursei, and developed a method for intergeneric conjugation between E. coli and S. From 2017-2021, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at Sandia National Laboratories, where they sequenced, assembled, and performed SNP analysis of algal genomes important in biofuels production, performed metagenomic analysis of algal ponds, and designed assays for the simplified detection of algal pond microbiota. Currently, they are a Strain Engineering Scientist at Huue.

Krissy Mahan holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Davis, and a BS in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin.
