Nate Cardin

Upper School Science Department Chair at Harvard-Westlake School

Nate Cardin is an accomplished educator and crossword constructor with extensive experience in both the academic and creative fields. Currently serving as the Upper School Science Department Chair at Harvard-Westlake School since August 2011, Nate oversees a team of 17 science teachers and teaches various chemistry courses. Previous roles include Coordinator of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Harvard-Westlake, where Nate implemented programs to enhance community diversity and inclusivity. Alongside educational responsibilities, Nate has worked as a Crossword Constructor for Zynga's "Crosswords with Friends," a Crossword Test Solver for The New York Times, and founded Queer Qrosswords, raising over $60,000 for LGBTQ+ charities. With a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Stanford University and a BA from Dartmouth College, Nate has significant teaching and research experience, including summer lecturing at Stanford and research collaborations focused on educational methodologies and organic chemistry.
