Hugo Lam has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades.

Hugo is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at HypaHub, Inc. since April 2019.

Prior to their current role, Hugo held various positions at Roche, including Head of Bioinformatics Research & Early Development from August 2017 to March 2019, Senior Director of Bioinformatics from August 2014 to March 2019, Head of Data Insights from June 2016 to July 2017, and Director of Bioinformatics from August 2013 to July 2014. In these roles, they led scientific research and development in bioinformatics, defined functional requirements, and built the science team.

Before joining Roche, Hugo worked at Personalis, Inc. as a Project Manager, Computational Biology from November 2011 to July 2013, and at 23andMe as a Software Engineer from June 2011 to November 2011.

Hugo's earlier experience includes working as a Technology Officer at Hong Kong University from April 2004 to August 2005, and as a Programmer Analyst at PCCW from November 2000 to April 2004.

Hugo Lam has a diverse education history that spans over the years. In 1996, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Hugo further pursued their education and achieved a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Imperial College London in 2000. Continuing their studies, they attended Yale University, where they obtained a PhD in Computational Biology & Bioinformatics between 2005 and 2010.

After completing their PhD, Hugo Lam pursued a Postdoc degree in Computational Genomics at Stanford University, which they completed from 2010 to 2011. In 2017, they enrolled in an Executive Education program at the University of Cambridge, specializing in the Advanced Leadership Programme.

Hugo Lam has also obtained several certifications to enhance their skillset. In 2001, they earned the Sun Certified Java Programmer certification from Sun Microsystems. Hugo further acquired the Sun Certified Web Component Developer certification in 2002 and the Sun Certified Enterprise Architect certification in 2007, both from Sun Microsystems. More recently, in 2018, they obtained the Machine Learning certification from Stanford University and the Entrepreneurship Essentials certification from Harvard Business School Online.
