Daniele Alesani

Daniele Alesani has a diverse and extensive work experience. Daniele currently serves as the Head of the Internal Audit and Advisory Services group at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), where they lead the coordination, planning, and control of assurance and advisory engagements conducted by the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS). Daniele also directly conducts complex engagements within the group. Alongside this role, they also hold the position of Senior Management Services Officer, overseeing advisory activities and management reviews to improve the IAEA's programmatic effectiveness and operational excellence.

Prior to their current roles at IAEA, Daniele worked as an Advisory Engagement Lead at The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. In this position, they planned and led advisory engagements and performance reviews to strengthen efficiency and operational effectiveness. Daniele also developed tailored methodologies and training plans for the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and led teams of auditors and advisors.

Daniele has also worked at various other organizations, including SDA Bocconi as a Teaching and Research Fellow, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as the Head of Statutory Reporting Unit and International Operations Manager, the United Nations as a Financial Policy Analyst and Inter-Agency Advisor, and the University of Geneva as a Programme Director and Lecturer for the International Organizations MBA.

Throughout their career, Daniele has focused on providing advisory services, improving program effectiveness and operations, strategic thinking and planning, organizational development, and risk management. Daniele'swork experience demonstrates a strong emphasis on leadership, coordination, and the provision of advisory services to enhance organizational performance.

Daniele Alesani's education history includes a PhD in Public Management and Economics from Università degli Studi di Parma/Bocconi University (2004-2008) and a Masters of Business Administration in Management, International Organizations from the University of Geneva (2006-2008). Daniele also obtained a Masters of Science in Economics and Management in Public Management, Financial Management, and Healthcare Management from Università Bocconi (1999-2003). Recently, they completed a Master of Arts in Business and Organizational Psychology with a focus on Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Steinbeis Hochschule (2019-2021). Furthermore, they have obtained additional certifications such as Chartered Public Finance Accountant (CPFA), Certified Internal Auditor, Lean Six Sigma Yellow and Green Belt, CGAP - Certified Government Audit Professional, Master Program in Performance Consulting, and Certification in Business Accounting.
