Jakub Sroka

Jakub Sroka has a diverse work experience in the field of Scala development. Jakub started their career in 2018 as a Scala Developer at Nexelem by VirtusLab, where they worked on developing backend code and handling small front-end tasks for the manufacturing enterprise management system. During their time at Nexelem, they also conducted research based on scheduling algorithms.

In 2021, Jakub joined VirtusLab as a Scala Developer for their Shipment Tracking Application. This project was based on a microservices architecture with a high demand for an increasing volume of processed messages. Their responsibilities included developing backend and infrastructure code, handling on-call and deployment duties, and designing the architecture for new features. Jakub also managed a sub-team of two people, participated in candidate recruitment, and assisted newcomers as a buddy.

Currently, Jakub is working as a Scala Developer at ICEO - Venture Builder, starting in 2023. No specific end date is provided, indicating that they are currently employed in this role.

Jakub Sroka completed their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from AGH University of Krakow, a 4-year program from 2016 to 2020. Jakub then pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the same university, which they completed from 2020 to 2021.

In addition to their formal education, Jakub has obtained several certifications. In December 2020, they became a Professional in Scala Language from Lightbend, Inc. In April 2021, they completed certifications in Akka Cluster - Fundamentals, Akka Streams for Scala - Professional, and Akka for Scala - Professional, all from Lightbend, Inc. Jakub also holds the certification of Certified Reactive Architect from Lightbend, Inc., obtained in March 2021. Furthermore, Jakub obtained the HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (002) certification from HashiCorp in March 2023.
