Ajoke Sobanjo-ter Meulen, M.D., M.Sc. has over 20 years of work experience in the medical field. Ajoke began their career in 1998 as a Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at The Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg. In 2000, they became a Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellow at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. From 2002 to 2006, they served as a Technical Advisor/Program Coordinator for Child Health and Neglected Infectious Diseases at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Ajoke then moved to the Netherlands Aids Foundation (Stichting Aids Fonds) as a Program Coordinator for the LAASER program (HIV drug resistance monitoring & surveillance in Africa/Asia). In 2008, they joined Merck as an Associate Director for Vaccines Clinical Research. In 2012, they moved to Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics as a Cluster Head/Executive Director for Vaccines Clinical Research. In 2014, they became the Global Lead Maternal Immunization at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In 2017, they joined the University of Washington as an Affiliate Associate Professor for Global Health. Most recently, in 2020, they were appointed as Co-chair for the COVAX Maternal Immunization Working Group at CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations). In 2022, they will become the Vice President of Medical Affairs & Policy at Icosavax, Inc.

Ajoke Sobanjo-ter Meulen, M.D., M.Sc. has an extensive education history. Ajoke earned their Doctor of Medicine - MD from Charit\u00e9 - Universit\u00e4tsmedizin Berlin, followed by a Doctor medicinae (Dr.med) from the University of Hamburg in HIV Virology. Ajoke then obtained their MSc in Infectious Disease Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London. Ajoke also studied Medicine and Philosophy at the University of T\u00fcbingen and earned their Abitur from the Deutsche Schule Lagos Nigeria. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Board certification Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine from the Chamber of Physicians, Bavaria, Germany, a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London, and a United States Medical Licensing Examination from the ECFMG.
