Damon Becknel has extensive work experience in the field of information security and cybersecurity. Damon currently holds the position of Chief Information Security Officer at ID.me, starting in May 2022. Prior to this, they were a member of the Cybersecurity Subcommittee at Blue Cross Blue Shield Association from February 2019 to April 2022.

From November 2016 to April 2022, Damon worked as the Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. Before that, they served as the Director of Information Security at the same company from June 2015 to November 2016.

In their earlier career, Damon served in various roles in the US Army. Damon was a Team Lead for the National Mission Team from May 2014 to June 2015, where they directed a team responsible for countering adversary cyberspace capabilities. Damon also led the Combat Mission Team from October 2012 to May 2014, managing offensive cyberspace options in support of US Central Command leadership objectives. Damon was also involved in coordinating planning efforts for cyberspace support in the CENTCOM Cyber Support Element from April 2012 to October 2012.

Furthermore, Damon served as the Mission Director for the Hunt Division from October 2010 to March 2012 and as the SWA TNOSC Director of Enterprise Services Manager and IA/CND from August 2009 to October 2010.

Before their military career, Damon worked as the Director of Operations from June 2007 to June 2009 and as an Assistant Professor, responsible for courses related to information warfare and computer networks, from June 2004 to June 2007.

In their early years in the US Army, Damon held the role of Company Commander from July 2000 to June 2002, where they managed budgets, maintained property, and supervised communication networks.

Prior to their Company Commander role, Damon worked as a Network Engineer from February 1998 to June 1999, where they planned and troubleshooted secure voice and data networks using Cisco Routers and established a secure Wide Area Network for deployed units.

Overall, Damon Becknel's work experience demonstrates their expertise in information security and their leadership roles in both the private and military sectors.

Damon Becknel holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, which they obtained from 1991 to 1995. Damon later pursued a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University from 2002 to 2004.

In terms of certifications, Damon obtained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) in June 2005. Damon also obtained the GIAC Exploit Researcher and Advanced Penetration Tester (GXPN) certification from GIAC in February 2015, along with the GXPN certification from the SANS Institute during the same month and year. Damon further completed the GCFA certification from the SANS Institute in May 2008 and the GCIH certification from the same institute in January 2007. Lastly, they received the HCISPP certification from (ISC)² in September 2018.
