Wolfram Burgard is a prominent academic and industry expert in computer science, currently serving as a Professor at Technische Universität Nürnberg since February 2022. With extensive leadership experience, Burgard was the Senior Past President of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society and previously held the positions of President and Junior Past President. From June 1999 to January 2022, Burgard was a Professor at the University of Freiburg and led the Research Lab for Autonomous Intelligent Systems. Additionally, Burgard served as VP of Automated Driving Technology at the Toyota Research Institute from January 2019 to March 2021. Early career experience includes roles as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Bonn and as a Doctoral Student at both the University of Dortmund and the University of Bonn. Burgard obtained a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Bonn and a Diploma in Computer Science from TU Dortmund University.
