Makpal Akishova

Makpal Akishova is a dedicated biological sciences student at Nazarbayev University, expected to graduate in June 2025. Currently serving as an Implementation (Lab) & Engineering Team Member at iGEM, Makpal is involved in developing an innovative drug delivery system for a bacterial therapy strategy against breast cancer. As a co-founder of the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation in Kazakhstan, Makpal has established strategic partnerships to enhance community outreach and reduce breast cancer incidences. Makpal's experience as a Research Assistant under Professor Ellina Mun includes synthesizing mesoporous organosilica nanoparticles and assessing their cytotoxicity, alongside proficiency in analytical tools such as GraphPad and OriginPro. Additionally, during a tenure as Social Media Manager for the Ministry of Research and Innovations in the Student Government, Makpal successfully organized events to promote internship opportunities and facilitate career development for students.
