Ruiqiang Zhang

Honorary Lecturer

Ruiqiang Zhang is an accomplished academic currently serving as an Honorary Lecturer and Postdoctoral Research Associate at Imperial College London since June 2021. Zhang's research is centered on experimental mechanics in metallic materials under extreme conditions, focusing on dynamic recovery and recrystallization in aluminium alloys, integrating artificial intelligence in high-temperature testing, and advancing manufacturing processes for aluminium alloy hydrogen tanks. Additionally, since May 2025, Zhang holds the position of Research Assistant Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, emphasizing innovative experimental testing methods, advanced manufacturing processes, and modelling techniques for metallic materials, with a strong background in microstructure characterization and mechanical property evaluation gained during extensive research experience. Ruiqiang Zhang earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London between 2017 and 2021.
