Melissa Hockaday

Melissa Hockaday has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Melissa has held leadership positions and provided critical care services in various healthcare settings. Melissa's work experience includes roles such as VP Advanced Practice & Care Transitions, Chief Nursing Officer, Ambulatory Services at Indiana University Health, where they led the performance of a large group of Advanced Practice Providers and Ambulatory Nurses and optimized their use across different medical groups. Melissa also served as a Service Line Executive for Trauma & Acute Care Surgery, overseeing multiple trauma centers and managing a significant operating budget. Melissa has extensive experience in trauma care, directing hospital operations and implementing Lean Transformation-Value Stream to improve patient outcomes. Melissa has also served as an educator and coordinator for American Heart Association courses and as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, serving as a charge nurse and preceptor. Additionally, Melissa has held leadership positions at Indiana University Health Physicians, where they served as the Chief Nursing Officer and Interim Chief Operations Officer, leading strategic planning and workforce management. Melissa has also been involved with the American College of Surgeons, serving as a Trauma Nurse reviewer. Melissa's work experience also includes roles at Indiana University School of Nursing, where they served as a Clinical Preceptor and Clinical Faculty for the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program.

Melissa Hockaday obtained a Doctorate of Nursing in Executive Leadership from Indiana University Indianapolis between 2020 and 2022. Before that, they earned a Master's degree in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from the same university from 2003 to 2006. Melissa's education journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse, which they completed at Indiana University Indianapolis from 1994 to 1999.
