Atif Taher

Atif Taher has diverse work experience in the legal field, with a focus on technology and digital transformation. Atif started their career as a Technology Lawyer at Eversheds Sutherland, where they specialized in drafting and negotiating IT/IP and commercial contracts, as well as advising on data protection, competition, compliance, employment, and corporate restructuring. After spending seven years with the firm in the United Kingdom, they were invited to transfer to the UAE in 2014 to help establish a center of excellence for the Middle East's technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) sector.

In 2018, Atif joined Cognit Technology Solutions, a Mubadala-IBM joint venture specializing in artificial intelligence solutions. As the company's Legal Counsel, compliance officer, and head of the legal function, they reported directly to the CEO and Board and managed all legal and compliance needs for the business. Atif played a crucial role in building the native legal function from scratch, which involved managing exclusive rights with IBM, drafting and negotiating IT/IP agreements with customers, and collaborating with vendors, resellers, and ecosystem partners.

Later in 2018, Atif also served as a Legal Counsel at Malaffi, the region's first Health Information Exchange. Malaffi, a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, aimed to create a unified patient medical record by securely connecting all public and private healthcare providers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. As the legal counsel, Atif played a crucial role in driving the digital transformation of the healthcare system by ensuring compliance and managing legal aspects of the PPP.

In 2019, Atif joined Injazat, a market leader in digital transformation, cloud, and cybersecurity. As the General Counsel, they led the legal function for the company, which included managing legal matters, providing legal advice, and overseeing contract negotiations. Injazat specializes in providing digital platforms through public-private partnerships and joint ventures, and Atif successfully delivered platforms in the healthcare and smart cities sectors.
