Michael McDermott

Michael McDermott has over a decade of experience in tax and asset management. Michael currently serves as the Head of Tax at Insight Investment since April 2018. Prior to that, they were the Head of Product Tax at BNY Mellon from March 2017. Before BNY Mellon, they worked as the Vice President, Fund Tax Manager at PIMCO from January 2016 to March 2017 and as a Funds and Operational Tax Specialist at Man Group from December 2014 to December 2015. Michael also served as the Global Funds Tax Manager at HSBC Retail Banking and Wealth Management from December 2010 to December 2014. Michael started their career as a Tax Advisor at Ernst & Young, specializing in asset management from September 2006 to December 2010. Throughout their career, they have taken on leadership roles and worked on various tax-related projects.

Michael McDermott obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the University of York from 2000 to 2003. From 2006 to 2009, they pursued Chartered Accountancy at BPP. Michael then pursued a Master of Science degree in Financial Economics at Birkbeck, University of London from 2012 to 2014. Prior to these higher education degrees, they attended King Edward's School from 1992 to 1999.
