Øyvind Jensen

Head Of Department Senior Scientist at Institute for Energy Technology

Øyvind Jensen's work experience begins in 2005 as a part-time teacher at Danielsen intensivgymnas. From 2006 to 2010, they worked as a research fellow at the University of Bergen. In 2010, they had various roles including a research assistant at Uni Research and a software developer at Google Summer of Code. Øyvind also worked as a researcher at the University of Oslo, focusing on numerical simulations of quantum mechanical nuclear physics. Since 2011, Øyvind has been with the Institute for Energy Technology, where they have held positions as a research scientist, head of department (temporary), senior research scientist, and is currently the head of the department and a senior scientist. Their work at the Institute involves developing finite element software for simulations of materials processing, with applications in the production of solar grade silicon, casting of aluminum ingots, and welding of automobile parts.

Øyvind Jensen holds a PhD in Computational many-body quantum physics/theoretical nuclear physics from the University of Bergen (UiB), which they obtained from 2006 to 2010. Prior to their PhD, they completed a Master's degree in Theoretical Nuclear Physics at UiB from 2004 to 2006. Øyvind also holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from UiB, which they earned from 2001 to 2004.

In addition to their academic degrees, Øyvind Jensen has pursued further education through various certifications. Øyvind completed the IFE R&D Leadership Program at the Handelshøyskolen BI in June 2023. In 2018, they obtained certifications in Deep Learning Specialization, Sequence Models, Convolutional Neural Networks, Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, and Structuring Machine Learning Projects, all from Coursera. Furthermore, in 2016, they completed a certification in The Finite Element Method for Problems in Physics, also from Coursera.
