Joan Hestenes is IOA’s Vice President of Technology Services and Facilities Management, for all IOA sites. Previous to joining IOA, Joan was Leader of Product Divisions IT at Thermo Fischer Scientific, with emphasis on a multi-billion dollar portfolio of genetic analysis and molecular biology products, product launches and systems from commercial web-site to back-end manufacturing, R&D infrastructure, big data compute farms, and transitioning software to SaaS and cloud computing. Joan’s biotech career included leadership roles in the IT project management office, replatforming the Applied Biosystems website which won ComputerWorld Honors finalist, sales and marketing systems, business intelligence, M&A and site moves, and facilities project and budget management. Earlier in her career, Joan was Co-Founder and Executive Director of a non-profit Village Enterprise, which continues to address poverty in Africa through entrepreneurship, launching 39,000 micro-enterprises benefiting over 850,000 people.
Joan has an MBA from Eastern University, and a BA from UC Davis.
