Jonathan Lau

Jonathan Lau is the current Chief Learner Officer and Co-Founder at InStride. Prior to this, they served as the Senior Vice President & General Manager of the Skills Division at Cengage from January 2015 to February 2019. In this role, they led the Skills business group, a $300m P&L with 250 employees across product, technology, content, sales, marketing, and services that provides educational solutions in computing, technology, trades, healthcare, and beauty discipline areas spanning higher education, K-12, consumer, and business channels.

During their time at Cengage, Jonathan developed and delivered on transformation strategy with Cengage Unlimited, all-you-can-eat subscription service, and Career Journey, comprehensive solutions to help learners build careers. Jonathan also turned around ed2go, an online learning eCommerce business, from stagnation to double digit growth. In addition, they restructured the Product, Content, and Engineering teams, workflow, and operations to drive greater visibility, throughput, and agility; responsible for managing and prioritizing backlog and making product trade-offs across the organization. Jonathan reinvigorated the group by building a learning centric performance culture to drive continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.

Jonathan Lau is a CEO Academy graduate with a background in computer science and electrical engineering. Jonathan also has a management degree from The Wharton School. Lau has a certificate in disruptive innovation from Harvard Business School Online. Jonathan also attended Phillips Academy, Andover.
