Zeming Chen

Zeming Chen, Ph.D., MD has extensive work experience in the field of biomedical research and development. Zeming has held various leadership roles in companies such as Intellia Therapeutics, Editas Medicine, and Tessa Therapeutics Ltd, where they specialized in cellular process development and clinical-scale manufacturing of CRISPR-edited cell therapies. In these positions, they led teams, optimized processes, and achieved significant improvements in cell yield, viability, and cost reduction. Prior to their industry roles, Zeming worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at MD Anderson Cancer Center and as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where they conducted research, presented findings at conferences, published in scientific journals, and mentored junior members. Additionally, Zeming has previous experience as a practicing physician in China, with rotations in Internal Medicine, Cardiology Intensive Care Unit (CCU), and Emergency Room (ER) departments.

Zeming Chen, Ph.D., MD has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Microbiology and Immunology from The University of Texas Medical Branch. They also have an MD degree in Medicine from Guangzhou Medical University. Furthermore, they obtained another PhD in Immunology & Microbiology from The University of Texas Medical Branch. In addition to their educational background, Zeming Chen holds various certifications, including ones in active listening, improving listening skills, leadership skills, coaching and employee development, communication with diplomacy and tact, creating psychological safety for diverse teams, and scuba diving. They have also completed an Advanced Management Certificate program from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
