Juan Pablo Bonilla is the Manager of the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Sector at the Inter-American Development Bank. Juan has dedicated their career to fighting climate change and promoting sustainable development.

Bonilla began their career as an advisor to the Minister of Environment in their native Colombia. Juan then served as a board member for the Clean Development Mechanism at the United Nations. In 2005, they joined the World Bank as a Senior Environmental Specialist. Bonilla returned to the Inter-American Development Bank in 2006, where they served as Chief of the Climate Change Unit until 2010. Juan was then promoted to their current position.

Under Bonilla's leadership, the Inter-American Development Bank has become a leading institution in the fight against climate change. Juan has worked tirelessly to promote sustainable development and help developing countries transition to low-carbon economies. Bonilla has been instrumental in establishing the Bank's climate change strategy and expanding its climate finance portfolio. Juan is a respected authority on climate change and sustainable development, and they have played a key role in shaping international policy on these issues.

Juan Pablo Bonilla has a Ph.D. in Environmental and Energy Management from The George Washington University. Their thesis was on the Development of a Generic Framework for Joint Measures in Developing Countries to Reduce GHGs. Juan also has a Masters in Engineering Management from The George Washington University, with a focus on Environmental and Energy Management. Their undergraduate degree is in Civil Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.

Juan Pablo Bonilla reports to Mauricio Claver-Carone, President. They are on a team with Rigoberto Ariel Yépez-García - Manager, Infrastructure and Energy Sector, Fabrizio Opertti - Manager, Integration and Trade Sector, and Jessica L. Bedoya - Chief of Staff and Chief Strategy Officer.
