Catherine Gharbaoui

Catherine Gharbaoui has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Catherine is currently working at Intercept Pharmaceuticals as the Senior Director of Product Development since March 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Product Development at the same company from July 2019 to March 2023.

Before joining Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Catherine worked at Retrophin as the Associate Director of Technical Operations from January 2018 to July 2019. Catherine also worked as an Independent Contractor at Magothy Consulting Group / Ceutix Labs from March 2017 to January 2018.

Catherine's earlier experiences include working at Ardea Biosciences as a Senior Principal Scientist I in Analytical Sciences from 2007 to 2016. At Ardea Biosciences, they were responsible for authoring protocols, conducting studies, and managing analytical testing for NDA submissions. Catherine also performed impurity identification and characterization for all projects and oversaw CoAs analytical testing.

Prior to Ardea Biosciences, Catherine worked at Pfizer as a Scientist/Contractor in 2007, where they provided support in maintaining and troubleshooting NMR instruments and LC/MS systems. Catherine also assisted in structure elucidation and data processing using ACDlabs software.

Catherine's career started at Ligand Pharmaceuticals as a Research Investigator from 2002 to 2007. In this role, they maintained and troubleshooted analytical instruments, provided structure elucidation and NMR support, and implemented data backup routines.

Before Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Catherine worked at Dupont Pharmaceuticals as a Senior Research Scientist from 2000 to 2002. Catherine was responsible for the administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of NMR instruments and performed structure elucidation experiments.

Catherine's earliest work experience includes a brief role as a scientist at Helios in 1998 and a postdoctoral position at Florida State University from 1996 to 1998.

Catherine Gharbaoui earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Organic Chemistry from Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) in 1995.
