Paul Franz is an experienced professional in data visualization and digital communications, currently serving as a Special Adviser at the International Crisis Group since March 2021, where responsibilities include leading investigative satellite imagery initiatives and developing innovative visual content. Additionally, Paul holds multiple roles at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, contributing as a Senior Associate and Adjunct Fellow, while also directing technology and digital strategy. Paul is a recognized Mapbox Trusted Developer, providing expertise in creating applications and enhancing storytelling through geospatial tools. Furthermore, Paul works as a Communications and Geospatial Consultant for the Atlantic Council and has a strong background in multimedia journalism, having previously held positions at Education Week, Time Magazine, and the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. Paul holds a Master’s degree in Multimedia Journalism from the University of Miami and a Bachelor’s degree in Government and History from Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
