Monica Lomena-Gelis

Monica Lomena-Gelis is a Senior Evaluation Officer at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) since December 2019, previously holding the position of Principal Evaluation Officer at the African Development Bank from February 2017 to December 2019. Lomena-Gelis has extensive experience in evaluation and sustainable development, having served as a Consultant at the Independent Office of Evaluation within IFAD and as Project Coordinator for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, covering projects in Senegal, Niger, and Burkina Faso. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Sustainability from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, a Master's in Environment and International Development from the University of East Anglia, and a degree in Environmental Sciences from Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona. Lomena-Gelis has also worked in various roles focusing on monitoring and evaluation in organizations such as the United Nations Capital Development Fund, the World Bank, and Office of Evaluation and Oversight.
