Mohammad Sabir

Vice President Maritime Services at International Registries

Mohammad Sabir has over 30 years of experience in the maritime industry. Mohammad began their career as a Marine Engineer at the Shipping Corporation of Saudi Arabia in 1994, where they worked until 1998. Mohammad then joined Kuwait Oil Tanker Company as a Marine Engineer from 1999 to 2001. In 2002, they worked as a Marine Engineer at Shell until 2004. From 2004 to 2014, they held multiple roles at DNV GL, including Senior Marine Surveyor and Lead Auditor. Following that, they worked at United Arab Shipping Company Ltd. as the Head of HSSEQ from 2014 to 2017. Mohammad then joined Hapag-Lloyd AG, where they served as the Director of Ship Management, QMR & EMR from 2018 to 2023. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President Maritime Services at International Registries, Inc. starting from 2023.

Mohammad Sabir's education history includes a range of maritime-related degrees and diplomas. Mohammad first completed Pre Sea basic Training at Pakistan Marine Academy in Karachi from 1992 to 1994, where they studied Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. During the same period, they also pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Maritime Studies at Karachi University.

In 2000, Sabir attended South Tyneside College in South Shields, United Kingdom, where they obtained a Class 1 Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency (COC) for Motor Ships. Mohammad 'sstudies focused on Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.

In 2003, they further enhanced their expertise by obtaining a Class 1 Chief Engineer COC for Steam Ships from South Tyneside College. This program provided an in-depth understanding of Marine Steam Turbines and High-Pressure Steam Generating Systems.

Sabir continued their education in 2004 at Germanischer Lloyd Maritime Academy in Hamburg, Germany, where they became a Marine Surveyor. Mohammad specialized in Hull and Machinery Statutory Matters.

In 2019, they earned a Diploma in Shipmanagement from Lloyd's Maritime Academy, specializing in Shipping Operations.

Currently, Sabir is pursuing an MBA in Ship Management at Middlesex University, which is scheduled to be completed in 2023.

Additionally, they are concurrently studying Maritime Law Enforcement, specializing in Maritime Law, at Lloyd's Maritime Academy. This ongoing diploma program began in 2022.
