Ron Jacak has worked in the scientific and engineering fields since 2004. Ron began their career as a Biocomputing Intern at the Whitehead Institute, where they helped design and build a Web-based repository for managing and sharing array data. In 2005, they took on two roles: a Software Engineer I at the Broad Institute, where they worked on the development of automatic genome annotation software, and a Graduate Student at UNC Chapel Hill, where they used multistate protein design approaches to change binding specificities for effector proteins in the Ral signaling network. In 2011, they became a Research Associate at the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, where they developed and used computational methods to design immunogens for use as an HIV vaccine. In 2013, they joined the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory as a Sr. Professional Staff, where they served as a subject matter expert in protein modeling and engineering. Currently, they are a Principal Scientist at Invenra since 2022.
Ron Jacak obtained a B.S. in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology between 1998 and 2003. Ron then went on to obtain an M.S. in Bioinformatics from Boston University between 2003 and 2005. Finally, they obtained a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between 2005 and 2011. Additionally, they have received training in BD Influx Flow Cytometry Operator Training and GE Healthcare Biacore Basics Training.
