Shawn Hirtle

Head Of Communications & Public Affairs at Invest Nova Scotia

Shawn Hirtle has a diverse background in communications and public affairs, with a focus on marketing and corporate communications. Shawn started their career as a reporter and producer for CBC Radio in 1994. In 2004, they joined Invest Nova Scotia as the Head of Communications and Public Affairs, a role they held multiple times throughout their tenure. In 2011, they became the Director of Corporate Communications. In 2014, they were promoted to Managing Director of Marketing & Communications. In 2017, they took on the role of Head of Communications and Public Affairs once again. In 2007, they briefly worked as the Communications Manager for NSBI (Nova Scotia Business Inc.), and from 2006 to 2007, they worked for the government as a speech writer and communications advisor.

Shawn Hirtle obtained a Bachelor of Journalism Honours degree from the University of King's College, where they studied from 1990 to 1994. Shawn also holds a certification in Crisis Management from the Institute for Crisis Management.
