Alexander Chan

Alexander Chan has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Alexander joined the Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO) in 2020 as the Vice President, Head of Tax and Legal Entity Governance. In addition to their tax responsibilities, they also took on the leadership of IMCO's Legal Entity Governance group. At IMCO, they advised clients on tax-efficient investment structures and provided tax management services.

Before IMCO, they worked at CPP Investment Board, where they held different roles, including Director of Investment Tax and Director of Asia Pacific Tax. In these positions, they provided tax support for various investment portfolios and projects, both locally and globally.

Prior to CPP Investment Board, Alexander worked as a pharmacist at Shoppers Drug Mart for over 20 years, gaining technical knowledge and experience in various pharmaceutical and biological products.

Alexander also worked at the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan as a Senior Manager of Tax, providing tax planning and structuring advice for numerous investment opportunities.

Early in their career, Alexander was a Manager of International Tax at Deloitte Canada, where they managed a portfolio of clients and worked on tax compliance projects.

Alexander Chan has a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto, which they obtained from 1992 to 1996. Alexander then pursued a Masters of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance at the Schulich School of Business - York University from 1997 to 1999. Following that, they completed their Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law between 1999 and 2002. Lastly, they obtained a Masters of Taxation degree in the School of Accountancy at the University of Waterloo from 2005 to 2007. Additionally, Alexander Chan attended the FRA LLC 4th PE Fund Tax Masterclass and the KPMG M&A Tax Masterclass, although the dates are not specified.
