Invisible Foods is a young, fast-growing start-up that only started building its team halfway through 2022. At our office in Barendrecht, located centrally in between many big fruit & veg importers, we’re basically creating Tinder for’ imperfect’ fruit and vegetables - products that might have odd shapes, scars, or are considered ‘too’ ripe.
Due to today’s strict retail demands, fruit & veg wholesalers throw away significant volumes of products that do not meet certain quality requirements. On a global scale, this amounts to EUR 350 billion of food destruction, every year. The good news, however, is that at least 50% of these products can be saved -and that’s exactly where we fit in! 
The matching app we’re building will enable fruit & veg wholesalers to identify the exact quality of their food ‘waste’ products -fruit & veg that isn’t pretty enough for retail- and will allow them to redistribute these to alternative markets; companies that manufacture frozen, dried, or liquid food.
