Senior Photonic Engineer at IonQ

Yunchu Li's work experience includes a role as a Senior Photonic Engineer at IonQ since February 2023. Prior to that, they worked at MACOM for several years in various roles. Yunchu was a Senior Principal Engineer from October 2021 to January 2023, where they invented and demonstrated technologies for transceivers and led the development of testing systems. From September 2018 to September 2021, they worked as a Principal Engineer, focusing on modulators and solving optical power damage problems. Before that, they were a Senior Optical Engineer from September 2015 to September 2018, where they developed transmitters and receivers with patented technologies. Yunchu started their career at MACOM as an Optical Engineer from September 2014 to September 2015, working on chip design and optical testing. Prior to MACOM, Yunchu Li worked as a Design Engineer at Silicon Lightwave Services and OpSIS Foundry from July 2013 to May 2014. Yunchu also has experience as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Southern California from August 2005 to May 2013.

Yunchu Li pursued their education in a chronological manner, starting with their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Optics/Optical Sciences from Shandong University, which they completed from 1998 to 2002. Yunchu then went on to obtain a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Laser and Optical Engineering from the same institution, completing it from 2002 to 2005. Continuing their academic journey, they attended the University of Southern California, where they completed their Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from 2005 to 2007. Finally, they successfully achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Southern California, completing it from 2008 to 2013.
