Matthew Smith

Head of Engineering at IQ Endoscopes

Matthew Smith has a varied and extensive work experience. In 2021, they began working as an Engineering Manager at IQ Endoscopes Limited. From 2018 to 2021, they worked at Corin Group, first as an OPS Production Team Leader and then as a New Technologies and Processes Engineer, where they were responsible for day-to-day management of a team of three and contributed to significant cost savings. From 2016 to 2018, they were a PhD Researcher at the University of Leeds. In 2015, they were a Researcher in a Contract Role at Loughborough University. In 2014, they were an LSU Societies Volunteer Event Co-Ordinator at Loughborough Students' Union, a volunteer position aiding the planning, organisation and execution of large scale events. From 2011 to 2014, they were an Midshipman (Honorary) at the Royal Navy, where they successfully organised an international exercise to Kenya. In 2010, they were a Senior Bar Staff at Whiteleaf Golf Club.

Matthew Smith's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering from the University of Leeds, obtained between 2016 and 2019. Matthew also obtained a Masters of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University between 2011 and 2015. Prior to that, they attended Aylesbury Grammar School from 2004 to 2011. In addition, Smith holds certifications from TÜV SÜD, International Association for Six Sigma Certification, Project Management Institute, and AXELOS Global Best Practice, obtained in 2020, 2019, 2019, and 2019 respectively.
