Matthias Treder began their career in 2005 as a PhD Student at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour. In 2009, they became a Research Associate at the Technische Universität Berlin, where they worked in the Machine Learning Lab and the Neurotechnology Group. From 2013 to 2014, they worked as a Research Associate at the Medical Research Council. In 2014, they moved to the University of Cambridge, where they worked as a Research Associate. In 2016, they moved to the University of Birmingham, where they worked as a Research Associate. From 2017 to 2021, they worked as a Lecturer in Computer Science and Research Associate at Cardiff University. Currently, they are a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at iSize Technologies.

Matthias Treder has a diverse educational background. Matthias obtained a Master's degree in Cognitive Psychology from Radboud University between 1998 and 2004. Subsequently, they completed a Propedeuse in Computer Science from the same university between 2004 and 2006. In 2012, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Technische Universität Berlin.
