POSITION OVERVIEW

IslandWood provides exceptional learning experiences to inspire lifelong environmental and community stewardship; our 250-acre campus is located on Bainbridge Island. The Event Sales & Planning manager contributes to IslandWood’s success by achieving sales and service objectives for the organization through 3+mil of earned revenue generated from 150+ events held annually at IslandWood’s campus on Bainbridge Island. The profit margins from this earned revenue help fund our mission

Job Title:                    Event Sales & Planning Manager

Reports to:                 Director of Food Services

Classification:           Full-time/Position may be Non-Exempt/Exempt based on WA

Exemption limits

Pay Range:                $60,000-70,000/annually plus bonus program

Work Schedule:         Varied and will include evenings and weekend work

Work Location:          On-site/Bainbridge Island Campus

Paid Time off annual benefit:  

IslandWood offers 3 weeks paid vacation, floating holidays, 10 annual paid holidays and 80 hours of paid annual sick leave. (Time-off prorated during first year based on start date).

Remote Work:   

IslandWood provides some flexibility to work remotely 1 day per week based on position, organization’s needs and employee’s performance, however during the first 6-months of employment it is expected that all work will be performed on-site.  Full-time remote work is not an option as this position is responsible for full oversight of on-site events.

PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Supports Director of Food & Beverage Services in development, including strategic planning related to site booking and revenue, reporting, team goal setting, sales process optimization, and professional development of staff.

  • Coaches the sales & planning teams in maintaining positive, professional working relationships with both internal & external clients and staff through effective, timely, and reliable communication.

  • Collaborates with cross-departmental teams in establishing benchmarks for customer and guest service performance and uses measurement tools to inspire a culture of service across teams.

  • Collaborates with cross-departmental teams to determine & clarify Utilization of IslandWood facilities, site capabilities and restrictions to ensure that internal /external client expectations are achievable.

  • Collaborates with cross-departmental teams to drive internal process improvements and product innovation to ensure IslandWood’ s customer communication and delivery of experiences exceed expectations.

  • Ensures accurate final billing in partnership with the accounting team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

  • Two to five years of progressive sales and management experience.

  • One to three years of Food and Beverage/Kitchen management/business experience

  • Sales and service experience in a related industry hospitality/conference center.

  • Experience in engaging with diverse communities.

  • Must be able to comply with and maintain a drug-free work environment.

  • Must pass child safety screening procedure, post-offer.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Strong organizational skills and systems-thinking

  • Ability to build, develop, and mentor teams.

  • Knowledge of business planning and financial performance measures

  • Knowledge of various software; MS Office, CRM (Salesforce, EventPro, and Eventbright)

  • Effective communication and people skills with a strong customer service orientation.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-department teams to meet organizational objectives.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Must be able to obtain the proper permit to serve alcohol (MAST)

  • Kitsap Public Health Food handlers' card or Serve Safe food handler credentials
