Ciaran Davies

Ciaran Davies has worked in the tech industry since 1998. Ciaran started their career as a Software Engineer at Sun Microsystems, where they developed a validation-framework for NIC-vendor approval under Solaris 5. In 2000, they joined Agilent Technologies as a Senior Machine-Vision Engineer, developing algorithms for SJ50+ series automated-inspection systems. In 2005, they became the Chief Technology Officer and Engineering Lead at Dyoptyka, where they managed R&D teams and developed embedded control-software, design of real-time control algorithms and R&D tools for laser-quality analysis. In 2010, they joined Leica Microsystems as an Engineering Lead for AI/Machine Learning, where they developed modules for high-performance image analysis and machine-vision algorithms. In 2017, they joined Valyant AI as an AI/Machine Learning Specialist. In 2018, they became the Director at Capital One - C4ML (Center for Machine Learning). Most recently, in 2020, they became the Chief Information Officer at Itemize - Purchase Document Data Extraction.

Ciaran Davies has a long and varied educational background. Ciaran began their studies in 1989 at Athlone Institute of Technology, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering and Chemistry. Ciaran then attended Advanced Technical College, where they earned a Diploma in Computer Programming. From 1995 to 2000, Davies attended Dublin City University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Sciences. Finally, Davies is currently attending Trinity College Dublin, where they are pursuing a Master of Science in Machine Vision.
