Ryo Tajima

Vice President Of Engineering at J-POWER USA

Ryo Tajima has a comprehensive work experience spanning several companies and roles. Ryo started their career in 1997 as an Engineer at J-POWER, where they worked on power plant development plans and feasibility studies in Southeast Asia. Ryo was later promoted to Deputy Manager, responsible for managing the operation and maintenance of coal-fired power plants in Japan and retrofit planning for optimization. Tajima also worked as a Researcher, conducting research on predictive maintenance methods for coal-fired power plants.

In 2012, Tajima joined PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia and took on the role of Acting CTO and Project Manager. In this position, they led the execution of a coal-fired power project in Indonesia, overseeing negotiations with various stakeholders and managing technical aspects of the project.

Tajima returned to J-POWER in 2014 as a Senior Manager, where they continued to contribute to project development and management. In 2017, they transitioned to J-POWER USA and served as the Director of Market Analytics and Business Development. Later, they were promoted to Vice President of Engineering.

Currently, Tajima holds the position of General Manager at J-POWER, where their responsibilities include the development of a gas-fired power station and the establishment of an electricity sales strategy for the Japanese wholesale market.

Ryo Tajima has a Master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Tohoku University, which was obtained from 1995 to 1997. Prior to their Master's degree, they also completed a Bachelor's degree in the same field at Tohoku University from 1991 to 1995. Additionally, Ryo has obtained several certifications throughout their career. These include being a "第2種電気主任技術者" from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, obtained in February 2017, an "エネルギー管理士" from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, obtained in January 2010, and a "日本英語検定1級" from the Public Finance Corporation Japan English Language Certification Association, obtained in March 2023.
