About The Role  

We are looking for a Head of Second Line Credit Risk professional to join our Finance team and run Credit Governance, Regulatory Compliance, Portfolio Monitoring and Check and Challenge. The role would suit an experienced, senior level Credit Risk professional with a control mindset who can engage with senior stakeholders with gravitas and communicate clearly and concisely, while staying on top of the detail in a fast-paced environment .

  

  

You will be responsible for (not limited to):  

We are looking for a candidate who will run Governance, Regulatory Compliance, Portfolio Monitoring, Check and Challenge --- so would involve 

  1. Deep Portfolio Insights and Analytics and regular follow ups with senior management
  2. Deep regulatory understanding - affordability, consumer duty etc
  3. Strong attention to detail - to build packs and run credit meetings and keep on top of everything
  4. Strong confidence and gravitas - to hold people to account, follow up on actions, check and challenge etc

Responsibilities would involve:

  • Running Monthly Credit Committee meetings, owning Terms of Reference and managing the reporting and closure of findings and actions
  • Building a detailed Portfolio Performance Monitoring Capability, and using this to stay on top of Portfolio Trends and what they mean for Jaja’s profitability and resilience to stress, and their impact on covenants on our funding vehicles
  • Staying close to Commercial and Analytics strategies, and leveraging your understanding of the business to assess their impacts on the business
  • Ensuring business strategies and models are in compliance with all regulatory credit risk frameworks from a prudential lending and consumer impact perspective – including affordability assessment, consumer duty, CONC
  • As needed, mentor/manage junior staff to ensure delivery of robust risk governance
  • Demonstrate sound Knowledge on all data sources used within the customer journey, ranging from traditional bureau to alternative data. As well as strong technical expertise to ensure that risk is appropriately identified, measured and managed accordingly.
  • Provide insightful analytics on adhoc queries to support the entire business
  • Working with people across the business to drive growth with a focus on good customer outcomes.

Essential skills and Experience 

  • 8+ Years Consumer Lending Experience
  • Strong experience working in credit risk, preferably in the credit card space
  • Deep understanding of regulations affecting Consumer Credit Cards
  • Strong confidence and gravitas - to hold people to account, check and challenge
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivery – run key meetings and documentation, stay on top of monitoring, follow up as needed
  • Strategic and Conceptual understanding of Cards Portfolio Management and how Risk and Analytics strategies can affect portfolio dynamics
  • Clear and Concise Communication ability – written and verbal

Desirable skills and experience  

  • Experience working in Financial Services, especially within consumer lending
  • Exposure to TSYS or similar credit card platforms
  • Knowledge of Alteryx & Tableau
  • Python/R (for occasional use)
  • Experience using AWS environment (Redshift connections, with S3 data lake)
  • Using JIRA or similar
