Vanessa Hoffmann

Vanessa Hoffmann is currently the General Counsel at jaris. Vanessa has previously worked as the Head of US Legal at Funding Circle US from August 2019 to May 2022. Prior to that, they were the Managing Counsel, Litigation, Regulatory Enforcement at Wells Fargo from November 2005 to June 2019. Vanessa started their career as a Division of Enforcement, Staff Attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from July 2003 to November 2005.

Vanessa is a highly experienced attorney who has worked in various legal roles throughout their career. Vanessa is an expert in risk mitigation and change management, and has Negotiated/drafted commercial documents and managed data privacy matters, litigation, regulatory-compliance responses, and legal review of products.

During their time at Funding Circle US, they were responsible for spearheading legal guidance for the company’s San Francisco and Denver operations. Vanessa also played a key role as chief legal advisor to the U.S. Managing Director and HR while leading a team of attorneys and paralegals. Additionally, they worked with top-level executives on governance committees and construct reporting to the Board of Directors. Some highlights of their time there include managing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and introducing practices that streamline onboarding strategic partners.

Vanessa Hoffmann's educational career includes a Bachelor's of Arts in American Government from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.
