David Detoro

Vice President, Global Clinical Development Operations at Jazz Pharmaceuticals

David Detoro has over 35 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. David is currently working as the Vice President of Global Clinical Development Operations at Jazz Pharmaceuticals since June 2020. Before joining Jazz Pharmaceuticals, David founded and served as the Principal member of a consulting practice called Detoro Associates LLC from September 2015 to June 2020. In this role, they provided consulting services to various clients in the pharmaceutical industry, including large pharma, biotech, CROs, and private equity firms.

Prior to Detoro Associates LLC, David held various leadership positions at Merck from 2007 to 2015. David served as the AVP and Head of The Americas in Global Clinical Trial Operations from August 2013 to August 2015. In this role, they provided strategic leadership to clinical research organizations in North and Latin America. David was responsible for site selection, project management, site monitoring, quality, compliance, patient enrollment, and retention in 10 countries.

Before their role in The Americas, David was the Head of Global Trial Management in Global Clinical Trial Operations at Merck from January 2007 to August 2013. David was accountable for the execution of over 250 clinical trials with 200,000 patients across all phases and therapy areas. Additionally, they led the integration activities for trial management after the Merck/Schering-Plough merger.

David also worked at Schering-Plough Research Institute from 1994 to 2007. David held various senior director roles, including Senior Director of Development Excellence in Global Clinical Trial Operations. In this role, they led the redesign, training, and implementation of clinical processes to improve efficiencies. David also served as the Senior Director of Clinical Data Management/Re-engineering and Manager/Director of Research Information Systems.

Before joining Schering-Plough, David worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb as a Software Engineer from 1987 to 1994 and at RCA/GE Astrospace as a Software Engineer from 1984 to 1987.

David Detoro has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from Rutgers University. David also holds a Master of Science (MS) degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The specific fields of study for both degrees are not provided.
