Pedro Melendez, P.E. has extensive experience in the energy and utility industry. Melendez, started their career at DTE Energy as an Associate Engineer- Distribution Relaying before moving on to become an Engineer- System Planning and Engineering. Melendez, later joined ITC Holdings Corp., where they held roles such as Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer, Engineering Manager, Director of CIP Initiatives, and Director of Asset Protection & Performance. Their responsibilities at ITC included overseeing cyber and physical security, NERC compliance, and SCADA engineering. Most recently, Pedro worked at NextEra Energy, Inc. as PGD Director of Transmission & Substations, where they managed transmission and substation assets across North America. Currently, they serve as the Vice President of Planning, Engineering, and Construction at JEA, overseeing infrastructure programs for electric, water, wastewater, and reclaimed water.

Pedro P.E. Melendez completed their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering majoring in Power Systems at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez in 2000. Melendez, then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, majoring in Power Systems and Control Systems at Wayne State University, graduating in 2007. In 2005, they obtained their Professional Engineer (PE) certification from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth. Recently, in 2022, they completed the NextEra Energy: Leadership Advantage Program from Harvard Business Publishing Corporate Learning.
