R David (RD) Johnson has extensive work experience in the aviation industry. R David (RD) currently serves as the Vice President of Safety at Jet Linx. Prior to this, they held the position of Contract Instructor/Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California, where they developed and taught courses on human factors in aviation safety. R David (RD) has also worked as a Flight Crew Training Instructor at Southwest Airlines, a Director of Safety Management Systems at Global Flight Test & Delivery, and the Director of Safety/CJ3 PIC at Desert Jet. Additionally, they served as the Chief Pilot/Director of Safety/CJ3+ PIC at Chairman Aviation, where they implemented risk mitigation strategies and obtained certification.
Earlier in their career, Johnson worked at American Airlines for over three decades in various roles including Boeing 737 Check Airman, International Captain, Aircrew Program Designee, MD-80 Fleet Training Manager, and MD-80 Fleet Captain. R David (RD) was responsible for training new pilots, managing training programs, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Apart from their commercial aviation experience, Johnson also worked as the Director of Safety Management Systems at Higher Power Aviation and as a Colonel and Commander in the US Air Force Reserve.
R David (RD) Johnson obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from the United States Air Force Academy between the years 1974 and 1978. In 2003 to 2005, they pursued an MBA degree at the University of Phoenix. Additionally, in 2013, they completed a Safety and Security Management Certification Program with a focus on Aviation at the University of Southern California.
