James Bischoff

James Bischoff has extensive experience in military and educational roles, currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at the Joint Special Operations University since June 2007 and as Deputy Division Director at the United States Special Operations Command since December 2014. Prior to these positions, James held the role of Intelligence Officer in the United States Army Reserve from November 1984 to September 2018, and served as the Counter Threat Finance Branch Chief at the United States Special Operations Command from June 2007 to July 2013. Additionally, James founded and presided over Fremont Appraisal and Consulting from July 1997 to November 2012. Early in their career, James worked as an Instructor at Kaplan Test Prep from April 1990 to July 2007 and as an Economics Instructor at Utah State University from 1990 to 1992. James holds a Master's degree in Strategic Studies from The United States Army War College, completed between 2012 and 2014, a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics from Utah State University, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics, German, and Military Science from Brigham Young University.

USSOCOM's "Think-Do Tank" Center for Special Operations Thinking. WE SHARPEN THE EDGE OF SOF’S ADVANTAGE: THE NEXT-GENERATION SOF PROFESSIONAL. The Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) provides education to Special Operations Forces (SOF) and to people who enable the SOF mission in a joint environment. In addition to the regular courses taught at MacDill Air Force Base (AFB), JSOU routinely conducts both regular and tailored off-station activities for SOF units worldwide by means of remote or on-site instruction, DL courses, and via video tele-instruction (VTI). Vision USSOCOM's "Think-Do Tank" - Center for Special Operations Thinking. Mission JSOU prepares SOF professionals to address strategic and operational challenges, arming them with the ability to think through problems with knowledge, insight, and foresight.
