Jokake’s Need:
Jokake Construction Services is in need of an energetic and proactive General Carpenter who will be responsible for providing professional carpentry services during the construction of commercial structures, including tenant improvement projects.
The general carpenter will be skilled in operating a range of equipment and machinery as well as working with a variety of materials and construction related tasks and processes.

General Carpenter’s Skills & Experience:
The required skillset and experiences include but may not be limited to the following items.
• At least two years of construction related carpentry experience or three years of experience in the trades.
• Always adhere to safety standards, compliance regulations and risk management protocols.
• Read and comprehend work orders to determine stages and types of carpentry projects assigned.
• Measure, cut and shape wood, plastic and fiberglass according to provided instructions and construct frameworks such as wall studs and doorframes.
• Install structures and fixtures according to specific instructions provided and ensure that all frameworks are properly installed.
• Inspect buildings and to determine need for additions and repair and communicate information accordingly.
• Put up siding and drywall including taping and ensuring that scaffolding is properly erected and safely in place.
• Lay and repair flooring including tile and carpet.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools to cut and shape wood and fiberglass in addition to properly placing them in desired area.
• Perform interior renovations by performing repairs on wooden framework, including windows and floors.
• Work with complex power tools such as jackhammers, power drills, etc. Work with non-wood materials among which include steel and concrete.
• Read and interpret construction plans and blueprint to determine the materials and dimensions specified.
• Keep management informed of work activity that may affect daily operations.
• Collaborate with subcontractors and manage laborers when necessary.
• Able to physically move up to 100lbs and have the endurance to walk jobsites, in various conditions for extended periods time. Other physical activities may include but are not limited to climbing, crawling, lifting and carrying construction related objects.
• The position will include traveling to different work sites within the Phoenix metro area and working in various climate conditions.

General Carpenter’s Technical Competencies
• The ability to read and understand blueprints or plans is a plus.
• OSHA certification, including the 30-hour test, must be completed either before employment or within a certain period of assigned time after employment.
• Understanding of and adherence to federal, state, city and internal safety protocols and HazCom compliance regulations.
• Familiar with the operation of construction tools and machinery.
• Basic computer skills are required. Some knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint is a plus.

General Carpenter’s Traits & Qualities:
• Personable with the ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative, team-based environment and work and communicate well with the Superintendent, subcontractors, Project Manage, and clients.
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt and flex in response to competing business demands and changing priorities.
• The ability to communicate professionally and effectively through all mediums, to staff, management, peers, business partners, clients and visitors.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English is required. The ability to communicate effectively both in English and in Spanish is a plus.
• Motivated and proactive in addressing challenges and opportunities. The desire and willingness to grow professionally, especially into a superintendent is a plus.
• Comfortable making non-mission critical decisions with little to no supervision.
• Ethical, trustworthy and must be able to always maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines with a high attention to detail and low tolerance for errors.
• Ability to multitask in a high volume, fast paced environment.
• Team player that can work independently or in a group.
