Gary Lister

Gary Lister has had a long and varied career in software engineering. In 2006, they held a position as a Test Automation Developer during the summer months between their 2nd and 3rd year of University at Legal & General. In 2007, they were a Test Automation Developer (Contract) at Avis Rent a Car. From 2008 to 2011, they were a Web Developer (Contract) at BG Group, where they were the technical design and development lead on a highly bespoke web based Action Tracking solution. In 2011, they became the Director at Checksum Consulting Ltd, where they developed a number of ASP. Net MVC sites for clients, including an intranet CMS solution and Fashion Social Enterprise. From 2013 to 2014, they were a Front End Web Developer (Contract) at Global Radio and a Web Developer (Contract) at Wessex Water from 2012 to 2013. From 2014 to 2018, they were the CTO at Sasets, where they led the technology programme for the company's SaaS solution based in the Microsoft Azure cloud. Gary then became the Head Of Engineering at OutboundWorks in 2018, before becoming a Freelance Software Engineer in 2020. Gary Lister is currently the Chief Technology Officer at Journey, a position they have held since 2022.

Gary Lister obtained an MEng in Cybernetics from the University of Reading between 2004 and 2008. Gary also holds certifications from Microsoft, including a 70-480 HTML5, CSS & JavaScript Specialist obtained in February 2013, a 70-515 TS: Web Applications Development with .Net 4 obtained in July 2012, and a 70-573 TS: Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Application Development obtained in July 2012.
