Karl Hudspith

Karl Hudspith is an experienced legal professional with a focus on intellectual property. Currently serving as the Director of Intellectual Property at Karius since September 2025, Karl previously held the position of Associate Patent Attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati from January 2019 to September 2025. In that role, Karl led a team in developing and managing US and international IP portfolios, facilitated collaboration with scientific teams in biotechnology, and managed global patent prosecution. Karl possesses a diverse background in drafting and prosecuting patent applications across various fields, including genomics and medical devices, and has also contributed to the academic community through postdoctoral research at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Karl holds a JD from Georgetown Law, a Ph.D. in Clinical Neurosciences from the University of Oxford, and a BSc in Biology from Oxford Brookes University.
